HPCL Q4 result: Net profit falls 25% to Rs 2,709 cr on low refining margins 9 May 2024, 9:46 am

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) on Thursday reported a 25 per cent fall in its March quarter net profit on lower refining margins and announced one bonus share for every two shares held. Its consolidated net profit of Rs 2,709.31 crore in January-March - the fourth quarter of the 2023-24 fiscal - compares to Rs 3,608.32 crore in the same period of the previous financial year, according to a company's stock exchange filing. The firm earned USD 6.93 on turning every barrel of crude oil into fuel in the quarter against the USD 8.50 per barrel refining margin in the preceding quarter. HPCL board also approved a 1:2 bonus issue - 1 share for every 2 shares held. Turnover was higher at Rs 1.22 lakh crore when compared to Rs 1.15 lakh crore in January-March 2023. For the full 2023-24 fiscal, HPCL reported a record net profit of Rs 16,014.61 crore as opposed to a loss of Rs 6,980.23 crore in the previous year.

Godrej Agrovet (GAVL) on Wednesday said its consolidated net profit jumped to Rs 65.48 crore in the March 2024 quarter from Rs 23.47 crore a year ago. Its total revenue from operations grew 1.87 per cent to Rs 2,134.28 crore during the quarter under review compared to Rs 2,094.99 crore in the year-ago period. "The financial year 2023-34 augured well for Godrej Agrovet in terms of a robust surge in profitability over FY23. The Pune-based firm had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 94 crore in the fourth quarter of FY23, according to a statement. Its net sales during the quarter under review rose 21 per cent to Rs 1,378 crore from Rs 1,141 crore a year ago, the company said. For the full fiscal 2023-24, the company's net profit increased 26 per cent to Rs 375 crore against Rs 298 crore delivered in FY23, it added. Its net sales for FY24 grew 18 per cent to Rs 4,806 crore from Rs 4,073 crore in FY23. The company also said its full-year export revenue for the first time crossed Rs 500 crore in the previous fiscal. Rajasthan govt announces 4% hike in DA of state employees, pensioners 25 Mar 2023, 12:51 pm

The Rajasthan government on Saturday announced a 4 per cent increase in the dearness allowance of the state employees and pensioners. The pensioners and state government employees will now receive a 42 per cent dearness allowance (DA) with effect from January 1, 2023. Earlier, 38 per cent DA was being given to them. The decision will benefit about 8 lakh state employees and 4.40 lakh pensioners, according to an official release. Apart from the state employees, this benefit will also be payable to the work-charged, Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad employees. The state government will bear a financial burden of about Rs 1,640 crore annually with this increase. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the central government announced a DA, but it is implemented after a long time, while the Rajasthan government ensures immediate payment of the increased amount along with the announcement.

Four passenger buses and a truck collided near a Hong Kong road tunnel on Friday and about 70 people were injured, including children. Most of the injuries were minor. The accident occurred after midday near a tunnel entrance on Tseung Kwan O Road in Lam Tin, a residential area in Kowloon. Some 60 people sustained light injuries and around nine others suffered more serious injuries, police said. It was unclear what caused the collision. Scores of firefighters, paramedics and police rushed to the scene. Several people lay on stretchers and at least one passenger was seen being helped out of a vehicle. A window on the side of a bus was shattered. Some of the injured, including elderly people, were treated by paramedics at the scene.
