UPSC NDA Exam 2021: Nearly 1,78,000 Women Register For The Exam On November 14 : Education News

According to government officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity, about one-third of the candidates set to appear for the National Defence Academy (NDA) exams on November 14 are women.

This will be women’s first attempt in the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC’s) entrance exam, which will be held at various locations across India. On August 18, the Supreme Court issued a major decision allowing women to sit for the security forces entrance exam.

According to the Supreme Court, the decision not to allow women in the examination is direct gender discrimination. Despite the Supreme Court’s order, women were excluded from the November exams due to preparations. The Defence Ministry had told the Supreme Court that by May of next year, a notification enabling women to take the NDA exam will be released.

After that, the Supreme Court instructed the central government that women candidates should be allowed to take the National Defence Academy exam, which is scheduled to take place in November of this year. Because this is a matter of gender equality, it should not be evaded. Following the Supreme Court’s order, a notification was released regarding women’s participation in the NDA exam, which will be held on November 14, in which women have taken an active role.

“Nearly 5,70,000 applications have been received, with 178,000 of them being women,” a government official told Hindustan Times.

Ananyaa Madhur Sharma, a Class XII student of DLF Public School in Ghaziabad, is one among the 178,000 women candidates.

“When the Supreme Court ordered that women be allowed to join NDA, I knew the decision was for me. Before that, I was confused about my career path but clarity came with that decision. I am excited about the possibility of joining NDA and later opting for the Special Forces (SF),” the national daily quoted Ananyaa as saying.
