Mumbai Indians have gotten off to a poor start, losing their first two matches but Tim David said everyone in the team is slowly settling down and looking forward to returning to winning ways. The 5-time champions lost to Delhi Capitals in their opening game before being hammered by Rajasthan Royals over the weekend. They will next face Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday, April 6.
“He has been a fun captain,” David said of Rohit.
“I’ve only played two games with him, so just getting used to playing with him. Getting used to playing with lots of guys in the team, but we’ll find our feet and start playing better as a team as the tournament goes on. But it’s been good fun so far,” he added.
Tim David, who made his international debut in 2019, has played 14 T20Is and hit 558 runs at a staggering rate of 159.52. In 91 T20s, David has hit 1978 runs at a strike rate of 159.
David said he is relishing the opportunity to learn from one of the best finishers in the game, Kieron Pollard.
LEARNING FROM POLLARD
David was not able to get going in the first two matches for Mumbai Indians but the all-rounder said he is getting used to the pitch conditions in India. David has had the recent experience of wickets in the sub-continent after having played in the Pakistan Super League in February.
“I think Polly’s played over ten years in the IPL, so there’s a lot of experience there,” David said.
“I think that happens over time naturally. You can’t just get all of it like, on a notebook straightaway. It just happens with different questions here or there, different situations, different experiences at training and trying to run some ideas past him.
“Just get little bits here and there and hopefully, I can gain some of those experiences from him, and maybe some that I can try and use in a game or that I can add to my game that can be successful.”
