No hero for Kangana? After Saif, now Arjun refuses to work with her

Over the last few months, director Reema Kagti’s upcoming film starring Kangana Ranaut has made news on several occasions. Initially, reports claimed that Saif Ali Khan had been roped in for the role of the male lead in the movie. However, soon, it was revealed that Saif had walked out of the project because he was asked to take a pay cut, something that the actor was unwilling to do.

We were informed that the makers, then, approached Arjun Kapoor for the part. Unfortunately, he, too, could not take on the film due to date issues.

An industry insider reveals, “About a fortnight ago, Arjun had a meeting with Reema, Zoya (Akhtar, co-writer) and Ritesh (Sidhwani, producer) with regards to the film. He was given a narration, and Arjun liked the script too, but the dates aren’t working out.”

Apparently, the makers wanted to start shooting the Kangana-starrer in May this year, but because Arjun will be busy with the schedule of Aditya Chopra’s production — which also goes on the floors in May — he had no option but to decline the offer.

The insider reveals that Arjun has already kept aside four months for Aditya’s film, which will mark the return of director Shimit Amin after six years. He last directed Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year (2009) starring Ranbir Kapoor.

We tried reaching Arjun, but he remained unavailable for a comment.
