NDA 2021 Update: The Supreme Court today upheld the principle of ‘gender equality’ by directing the Centre to allow women to take the NDA 2021 entrance exam scheduled in the month of November, and strongly observed that the matter could not be postponed any longer.
Passing order in the matter, the Supreme Court said, “Women must be allowed to take the November 2021 exams. Cannot defer for one year. Medical standards should be tentatively notified. UPSC to issue a corrected notification for the November exam,” as reported by Indian Today
“Effectively, what is being requested is that the present exam of November 21 be skipped as far as the entrance of girls is concerned. We have given thought to the submissions. It will be difficult for us in this situation as the aspirations of women have risen,” the Supreme Court observed in its order.
The decision comes in the wake of submission by the Centre on inducting or granting women entry into the Indian Armed Forces – Army, Navy and Air Force through the National Defence Academy and to the effect, the Ministry of Defence had submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court on Tuesday
The decision comes as a positive development and good news for all those women who wish to make an early career in the Indian Armed Forces following their intermediate or Class 12.
The top court has directed the concerned authorities to make necessary arrangements that allow women to sit for the UPSC NDA exam 2021 scheduled on November 14, 2021
