JAMMU: Acting on a tip-off, Kishtwar police of Jammu and Kashmir have arrested a former terrorist of Hizbul Mujahideen who had been evading arrest for 19 years.
A police spokesman said on Saturday a special police party carried out raids at various locations on the basis of specific information, and arrested the former terrorist, identified as Dulla alias Jameel, at Kundwar village in Chatroo area of Kishtwar district.
“Jameel, a resident of Arnas Reasi, an ex-terrorist of HM outfit-turned-absconder, had been evading arrest for the last 19 years,” said the spokesman, adding he was “wanted in a terror case registered at Chatroo police station”.
A local court sent him to judicial custody.
Earlier, on September 17, Kishtwar police arrested another former terrorist, who had been absconding for the past 20 years, from Marwah area of the district.
“The arrested absconder, identified as Abdul Gani alias, Mavia, a resident of Rar Marwah Kishtwar, was wanted in a case registered at Marwah police station”.
Another former terrorist Nazir Ahmad of Budhar-Bonjwah was arrested after a long hunt of 12 years on September 15.
