THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has approached the Supreme Court against the high court order quashing the government scheme to provide minority scholarships to Muslims and Christians in the ratio of 80-20.
The state government has filed a special leave petition in the apex court in this regard. On May 28, a division bench of the Kerala high court consisting of Chief Justice S Manikumar and Justice Shaji P Chaly had set aside the government order, observing that the state had to treat the minorities equally and should distribute the scholarship among notified minority communities in accordance with their population proportion as per the census.
On June 4, the government had held an all-party meeting to take different views in the wake of the high court order quashing the earlier.
