GUWAHATI: Reacting to home minister Amit Shah’s recent statement that NE states have agreed to make Hindi compulsory in schools up to Class 10, the state unit of Congress and All Assam Students’ Union (Aasu) have said no one should be forced to learn the language.

President of All Assam Students Union Dipanka Kumar Nath said: “If anyone wants to learn Hindi, he or she can learn it but if the government tries to impose this, there will be protests. ”
