US President Joe Biden said that he has long believed that the US-India relationship can help us solve a lot of global challenges. “In fact, back in 2006, I had said that by 2020 India & the US will be among the closest nations in the world,” Biden added.
This will be the first in-person meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden.
During the first in-person meet between US President Joe Biden and Narendra Modi, Biden said, he has long believed the US-India relationship can help solve a lot of problems.
“I’ve long believed that US-India relationship can help us solve a lot of global challenges. In fact, back in 2006, I had said that by 2020 India & the US will be among the closest nations in the world: US President Joe Biden at the bilateral meet with PM Narendra Modi.”
Before the meeting, Biden took to Twitter and said: “This morning I’m hosting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House for a bilateral meeting. I look forward to strengthening the deep ties between our two nations, working to uphold a free and open Indo-Pacific, and tackling everything from COVID-19 to climate change.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was set to meet US President Joe Biden in Washington DC on Friday. This will be the first in-person meeting between the two world leaders after Joe Biden took charge as the US President in January this year.
PM Modi and President Biden are expected to broaden the scope of India-US ties and discuss areas of mutual interest. The two leaders will review bilateral trade and investment relations between the two countries.
PM MODI MEETS US V-P KAMALA HARRIS
Ahead of the bilateral meeting, PM Narendra Modi met US vice-president Kamala Harris and congratulated her on her election to the post. PM Modi also extended an invitation to the US vice-president to visit India soon.
PM Modi described India and America as “natural partners” and during the meeting the two leaders decided to further cement the Indo-US strategic partnership and discussed global issues of common interest, including threats to democracy, Afghanistan and the Indo-Pacific.
“India and America are natural partners. We have similar values, similar geopolitical interests,” PM Modi said in a joint media appearance with Kamala Harris, the first-ever person of Indian origin to be elected as the vice-president of the United States.
