Indira Gandhi International Airport won the annual Airport Service Quality (ASQ) award, which recognises and rewards the best airports in the world based on Geneva-based ACI’s ASQ passenger satisfaction survey.
Both Delhi’s IGI and Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International (CSI) airports are operated under a joint venture between Airports Authority of India (AAI) and private firms.
IGI is run by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a joint venture between the AAI and GMR Group-led consortium, while the CSI is run by Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), a joint venture between the AAI and GVK group-led consortium.
“The journey was never easy especially after holding the No. 2 mark for last three years. We can now justifiably claim to be the world’s best,” DIAL Chief Executive, I Prabhakara Rao said in a statement.
The survey rates each airport’s performance in 34 key service areas under eight major categories including access, check-in, security, airport facilities, food and beverage providers, and more. The results of the survey allow airports to track and analyse their performance vis-a-vis other airports around the globe.
“This award is validation of the fact that our efforts towards establishing world-class service quality are headed in the right direction. We would like to thank all our passengers and everyone who toasts us as the pride of Mumbai,” MIAL Chief Executive Rajeev Jain said.
