Taiwan-based Quanta Computer Inc is the main assembler of the Apple Watch, which is expected to be launched in April.
The entry-level Apple Watch Sport model accounts for half of the production order, while the mid-tiered Apple Watch will count for one-third, one person told the WSJ.
Apple Watch Edition, the high-end model with 18-karat gold casing, is expected to have relatively small orders in the first quarter but Apple plans to produce more than 1 million units per month in the second quarter, the Journal reported, citing the person.
Apple could not immediately be reached for comment.
The Gold edition of the Apple Watch, which is scheduled to be launched in April this year, will be kept it special safes at the company’s flagship stores, according to the reports making round in tech arena.
“Apple’s flagship stores will have safes to house the more expensive, gold ‘Edition’ variants of the upcoming Apple Watch,” 9to5Mac said.
The reports suggest that custom-designed safes will be installed in the Apple Stores.
Meanwhile, another reports said that Apple Watch will have similar battery life as other Android Wear devices in the market.
Apple is hopeful that the watch can run for 19 hours, combining active and passive use, the report said. Apple Watch can last through two to three days in standby and low-power modes.
However, if the watch is used strictly as a timepiece and the screen is on at all times, then the battery will die out after three hours or so.
The CPU inside the watch is more or less equally as powerful as the A5 chip that powered the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, and remains in the current-generation iPod touch, the report stated.
