11 December 2014, New Delhi.

Lots of students (of nursing at AIIMS) on Wednesday staged a protest here at Jantar Mantar demanding termination of the Nursing Hostel deputy superintendent, allegedly involved in the suicide case of a 21-year-old nursing student. Pallavi Grover, third year BSc Nursing student from Mayapuri had committed suicide by hanging herself  on Sunday, allegedly after continuous harassment by  a lecturer at AIIMS, who is also the warden of Nursing School Hostel .

“We demand that the warden’s service should be terminated immediately and that she be arrested. She has been harassing Pallavi for over quite some time because of which she took the drastic step of ending her life,” said Yogita Singh, a fourth year nursing student.

Pallavi’s parents have already demanded the same saying their daughter had complained about harassment by her warden.

The police have confirmed that they have found a note which states that ‘no one is responsible for her death.’

Police had said that Pallavi had returned from her home on Sunday night and at around 10.30 pm, one of her friends went to check on her after receiving a call from her mother, who said she was unable to reach her daughter on phone despite repeated attempts.

The girls found the door locked. When they looked through the window they found Pallavi’s body hanging.

Meanwhile, the warden in question has been removed from duty by AIIMS and authorities have constituted a nine-member enquiry panel to look into the incident.
