At least two people were injured in an explosion in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on Monday, according to local reports.
The blast occurred in Police District 5 of western Kabul on Monday morning, Tolo News quoted a police official as saying. The reason behind the explosion is yet to be known.
Ahmad Murtaza, a shopkeeper who was an eyewitness to the incident, told news agency Reuters that he was busy with a customer when a “boom shook the store”. “I saw people were taking victims from the blast site, I don’t know whether they were dead or injured,” Reuters quoted Murtaza as saying.
The incident comes two days after a magnetic bomb destroyed a minibus in a heavily Shi’ite area of western Kabul. Several people were killed and wounded in the attack which was claimed by Islamic State.
