Ncell and FNCCI are jointly organizing the Durbar Marg Street Festival on the occasion of Nepali new year 2079 BS. The organizers expect the 7 days occasion will help revive the small, and SMEs that’s stagnated by COVID-19 lockdowns.
The festival is jointly organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, FNCCI member Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (Reban), and Durbar Marg Development Board in collaboration with Ncell. Likewise, Gorkha Brewery is the co-sponsor of the one-week street festival.
The organizers hope to reinvigorate domestic tourism and promote Nepali cuisine, products, and cultures. The festival will also be a regular affair hereafter. The visitors will witness a total Nepali cultural exhibition. On Baisakh 3rd from 10 AM, cultures and arts of all ethnicities from seven provinces will be on display. The event will take place in the area from the Mahendra statue in the south of Durbar Marg and to the traffic pole at the gate of Naranhiti Museum in the north.
FNCCI president Shekhar Golchha said the festival will bring new energy to the tourism sector. He also hopes the festival will send a message and hope for economic revival across the country. “The festival will help us evaluate how we can restore the economy from its current predicament,” he said.

Likewise, Andy Chong, CEO of Ncell expressed his delight at the collaboration with FNCCI. He said tourism remains an essential badly affected by COVID-19. But the upcoming festival could solidly promote SMEs that could help restore their businesses.
On the same day, the street festival will officially begin at 11-30 AM. Till morning 8-15 PM, many entertaining presentations will take place.
The festival will have a stellar cast of singers to entertain visitors. This include Dipak Bajracharya, Samriddhi Rai with band, Suwani Moktan, Sandip Chhetri, Sursudha etc. Besides, Sristi Kc and Blind Rocks, Rusanand Lajju, Everest Crew, Mahesh Kafle, etc will perform their gigs at the festival. In addition, diverse cultural dances representing each province will entertain the audience in the adjacent streets of Durbar Marga.

Main attractions
The main attractions in the Durbar Marg Festival by Ncell and FNCCI are Nepali cuisine and products. There will be 60 stalls in total and there is also a child-friendly arrangement for the younger ones. Likewise, the stalls will also put on a show of products designed and tailored by specially-abled entrepreneurs.
Many shows have come under the effect of COVID-19 leading to cancellations. But the Coronavirus scare has lowered recently. 90% of citizens have already been vaccinated against the Coronavirus. Thus, the organizers believe that will help the festival boost economic activities.
The festival is in line with the business houses’ new plans after COVID-19.
FNCCI’s Senior Vice Chair Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that load shedding has attracted fresh concerns. But he says, the Durbar Marg street festival will enhance domestic tourism and uplift the national economy.
Trade Fair Committee Chairman Narendra Khadka presented his welcome note at the press conference. Likewise, Rewan Director Araniko Rajbhandari offered insights into the street festival. FNCCI’s Deputy Chiefs Dinesh Shrestha, Anjan Shrestha, and Ramchandra Sanghai were also present at the conference.
