MUMBAI/KOLKATA: Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee met Maharashtra environment minister Aaditya Thackeray and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday during her two-day Mumbai visit and she’s expected to call on NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday.
The meetings were seen as an attempt to drum up support for Trinamool Congress ahead of the February 2022 assembly polls in Goa, a state on the party’s radar to expand its national footprint.
She will likely campaign in Goa along with party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Trinamool has been trying to expand its base in Tripura and Meghalaya, two northeastern states slated to elect new governments in 2023.
