A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly abducting and then murdering his six-year-old brother-in-law in Sarita Vihar to teach his in-laws a lesson.
Police said the man has admitted to throwing the child in Agra canal after he refused to get him a glass of water while he was taking him to his hideout. The body has not been recovered yet.
The accused Pradeep works as a labourer and stays in the Ali Vihar area of Sarita Vihar. He was married in January this year and has been having problems in his marriage since then. Presuming that his wife’s family members were responsible for the discord, Pradeep decided to teach them a lesson by kidnapping the child and even planned to ask for a ransom.
Last month, he had an argument with his wife during which his father-in-law intervened and asked him to leave. While leaving he found the child playing outside the house and lured him away.
A case of kidnapping was registered and search was mounted to track down the child. Investigations revealed that the child was last seen with Pradeep, who was tracked down and detained.
During interrogation he first tried to mislead the cops by claiming his innocence but later broke down and confessed to the crime.
Police said that he has been arrested for murder and trying to remove evidence from a scene of crime. A search is on to find the child’s body.
