she Noida police registered a kidnapping case and formed five teams to search for 29- yearold Shipra Kataria Malik, who had gone to Chandni Chowk on Monday afternoon to buy raw material.
Inspector general of police (Meerut Zone) Sujit Pandey called a meeting of all senior officials of Noida police, including the special task force (STF) and crime branch, on Wednesday to discuss the matter.
Shipra had left her Sector 37 residence around 1pm on Monday to meet her husband at a nearby market, before moving towards Delhi. Her husband, Chetan Malik, said her phone was switched off around 3.30pm. He found her car unattended near Sector 29, the police said.
“We have no idea where she is. We have no enemies or rivals. We hope she returns safely,” Chetan said.
Shipra, who hold a degree in fashion designing from Pearl Academy, in Delhi married Chetan in 2012. They have a two-year-old child and live in Sector 37. He said Shipra had gone to Chandni Chowk to buy raw material for garments.
“Shipra’s mobile phone was last traced to Lajpat Nagar in Delhi. She had called the emergency helpline — 100 — for 10 seconds but disconnected without saying anything,” Kiran Sivakumar, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Gautam Budh Nagar said.
“We are investigating how the victim or her mobile phone reached Lajpat Nagar. Her car, a Maruti Swift with the registration number of DL 1C 1905, was found in Noida. We are looking at CCTV footage,” Sivakumar said.
Officials were going through her call dumped records (CDR) to investigate if she was threatened by anyone. “Two persons who had a property dispute with the victim’s family are under the scanner. However, we have no concrete leads so far,” Vishwajeet Srivastava, superintendent of police, crime branch, said.
SSP Sivakumar said he was seeking the help of the residents through social networking websites. The SSP initiated ‘#HelpTraceShipraMalik’, a twitter handle, where residents can post information.
The police said they could not find the victim’s car in the video footage recorded on the DelhiNoida-Direct (DND) Flyway
