The size of the app is 252 kilobytes, and it’s meant for 2G networks in areas with limited internet connectivity. Facebook Lite is available for the 2.2 Android version or more than that and it will occupy a minimum space of one MB on Android software.
The lighter variant of the app will help users to perform various basic functions like updating status along with photos, commenting on people’s posts, receiving notifications, messaging and participating in group conversations, and receive notifications. Also, the app will not take forever long to refresh the news feeds.
In addition to Facebook’s features, the app provides access to other services like Wikipedia, weather information, health and educational information. Users will be charged a specific amount for these extra services. Facebook has launched the app in some countries because it wants to map the response of the users before launching the app worldwide.
