Cambridge School’s senior wing at Sriniwaspuri had to shut altogether in the chaos. “The senior branch uses over 20 buses and kids come from very far. There was no prior information and kids were calling up. We got to know about the strike only in the morning,” said the principal of the junior school, Anu Behl Roy. She was able to keep her own branch open as it uses only two DTC buses. Delhi Public School, RK Puram, too uses only five DTC buses. The principal, D R Saini, said students using

Modern School, Barakhamba Road, was able to inform parents on time. “There was no option. but to attend as We had a unit test scheduled for Monday and we couldn’t call it off. We sent a message asking parents to use their own transportation and we had full attendance,” said principal, Vijay Datta. Feroz Bakhta Ahmed, an English teacher, said the same arrangement will hold for the duration of the strike.

In parts of Dwarka at least, the DTC’s own employees did the informing. A parent waiting at the Sector 19B bus stop with his daughter had a DTC bus driver stop by him in a car. “He was explaining to us that there’s a strike and the reasons for it. He was very nice about it and I was pleasantly surprised,” he said. “I saw several other guys stopping at school bus stops to inform parents and kids waiting there. There were chaps on motorcycles at sectors six, seven and 10.”ose buses were “accommodated in the others.”
